Company History

April 1940

Started the manufacture and sale of acetylene gas welded steel tubes for bicycles in Yokosuka town (currently: Tokai city), Chita District, Aichi Prefecture.

January 1952

Established Okajima Pipe Co., Ltd. with 1 million yen of capital.

August 1962

Purchased a high-frequency resistance welding machine manufactured by US-based Summertool Inc. for the first time in Japan

December 1968

Purchased 25,000 m2 of land in Higashiura town, Chita District, Aichi Prefecture, constructed Building No. 3 & No. 4 of Higashiura Plant No. 2 (3,500 m2) and operated five tube making machines as well as two drawing machines

January 1969

Imported an automatic drawing machine manufactured by West Germany-based Kirsaling GmbH for the first time in Japan

May 1972

Constructed Building No. 2 at Plant No. 2 (1,700 m2) and installed three more tube making machines

March 1980

Constructed Building No. 1 at Plant No. 3 (2,200 m2), moved three drawing machines and started operations as a tube making plant

January 1982

Started production of pipe in coil (PIC)

October 1982

Installed ERW tube making machine (F1)

August 1983

Extended Building No. 1 (1,400 m2) of Plant No. 2 and built No. 2 Office (200 m2)

November 1985

Constructed Building No. 2 at Plant No. 3 (1,513 m2)

Constructed an Employee's Hall (OP Hall) (946 m2)

Installed ERW tube making machine (F2)

September 1988

Installed dedicated high-nickel and stainless-steel tube making machine

Established Top Tube Manufacturing Co., Ltd. in Thailand

Installed small-diameter, thin-walled PIC tube making machine (F4)

Constructed multi-story, humidity-controlled warehouse (1,300 m2, 1,400-ton capacity)

Installed dedicated stainless-steel tube making machine (S2)

April 1993

Constructed a company dormitory (Green Heights)

January 1994

Installed dedicated small-diameter, thin-walled tube making machine (S1) manufactured by CSM of Italy

April 1997

Constructed Plant No. 1 (4,300 m2) and started commercial operation of a private power generator (1950 kw)

Received the Special Recognition Award of the 35th Medium and Small Business Research Institute Award (currently, "Good Company Award")
